my berlin Artist studio upgrade!

I am so happy to share with you great news of this just started 2022:
my Berlin artist studio is getting bigger!

This year I had the fortune to enlarge my creative spot at our magic shared artists atelier Studio 4, in Friedrichshain, Berlin. Now I have an extra wall that opens a lot of new possibilities!
I know for someone having one more wall just 2x3m wide may look not that big improvement, but for me is such a blessing! Before that, I have played crazy Tetris with all my art supplies, stock of prints, packaging, and artworks, and now everything has finally found its place.

And together with my studio mate Marnie, we have made little but excellent upgrades: cleaned up the window, painted the facade and, last but not least, put up new wonderful window curtains, bleached and dyed by our Studio4 gal and great tattooist Delia of Both Worlds Tattoo (check her stunning and unique work).
Love our new curtain, it makes the entrance so cozy!
Furthermore, it allows us to have a little more privacy. Don’t take me wrong, we love to have the studio on the street side and the direct contact with the people passing by but, you know, also artists sometimes need privacy ๐Ÿ˜‰

I have so many new ideas about my new studio spot!
Curious? Here are just a few examples:

  • Open Studio and Exhibition once per season (the first one arrives with Spring, more details coming very soon!)
  • The little portrait corner, so when you will come to my studio to pose for a portrait, we will have our privacy
(you can find my custom portraits catalog on my online shop)
  • Creative meetings, to re-connect each other and share thoughts, inspiration, and revolutionary visions
  • Paint bigger, babe! Yes, I always wanted to paint people in full-scale!
Wanna be one of the first to be painted in big?

And that’s everything for now.
I will leave you with some pics of the studio I’m proud of.
Stay tuned for being updated on events and news about our studio life!

Okinawa: Ginoza Art Residency

Hello there, I’ve been in Okinawa for almost two weeks now, working crazy to prepare the scenography for the show “Rheinbilder” that will be in Garaman Hall on the 21st and 22nd July.

It is the first time for me to draw something that will be screened with projector on an multi layer screen setup, and I’m learning something new every day. Drawing for screening is quite different from drawing for books, there are many things to consider, for example the contrast of the images that must be quite strong to work good with the lights on the stage.

Here you can see the flyer of the show. For more info and tickets follow the link of the Garaman Hall theater. So to all of you who will be in Okinawa on the 21st or 22nd July, come to see it! It will be a great show, in the romantic scenery of the Rhein river with live music, dancing, acting and my illustrations!

Okinawa arrivo!!!

I have some big news!!!

On the 7th June I will go to Okinawa for about 2 months, that’s my first art residency and I am so happy that will be in the wonderful island in the south-south-south of Japan, as a Sicilian I kind of feel connected to Okinawa…SOUTH ISLANDS POWER!!!

I am honored to take part to a great theater project with my illustrations, and collaborate with great people there to create the scenography. I am so excited and looking forward to being there.

The show will be in the end of July in the Garaman Hall of Ginoza. I will post more details about it very soon.

And now let’s come back to work!

GANBARIMASU!!!

Here we are again, Berlin! I was one month in Japan and just came back to reality…

It was a great time and time flied faster then I imagined.

I came back full of new ideas and energy to immerse myself in my new projects! Now it is a count down to Bologna Children’s Book Fair, I’m working on couple of new books and I will update the progress here and on my social networks.
